News is circulating about the take over of the Wireless UHF range starting 02/18 which means many of you that use wireless microphones in this range will start to experience some very nasty side effects.

It's a FACT. The 698-806MHz is going to public safety. The rest of the mics are going to have to deal with new HD stations, etc.

Unlike the majority of netflow collectors, Solarwinds Orion Netflow Addon requires the device to be monitored in Orion via SNMP.  You still need to configure the device to forward netflow data to the Solarwinds Server just like any other collector but unlike any other collector you need access to the SNMP community string.

This causes alot of issues for those of us that can not obtain the SNMP from third party vendors that aren't always willing to provide SNMP community strings (not even the read-only).

Solarwinds as a company has one focus and that is for monitoring and notifying you when something goes wrong.

Several companies have compared Solarwinds, Opsware, Openview and they all say the same thing.  Solarwinds is the best tool on the market with a growing number of features and strong reliablity and ease of setup make it the leader.

Looks like Microsoft has realized they made a boo boo with Vista and is now strongly focusing on Windows 7.  That's right ladies and gentlemen, another upgrade to the famous Microsoft Windows and yes, you will have to pay for this upgrade as well.

So let's see, Vista lasted about a year, maybe two and already being replaced.  Microsoft is trying to beat Apple's new release of Snow Leopard but as we know, Apple's upgrades are far less expensive and much more successful.

Finding a forum to use with Joomla 1.5 easily is a tall order at the moment.

In researching forums for Joomla 1.5.8 I have narrowed the field to: (in alphabetical order)

I big waste of money are the external "mobile" drives that go by the name of SimpleTech.  Usually these contain a Western Digital Hard Drive and connect to your computer via USB connection.

Due to the cheap components that SimpleTech uses to create this external drive and the lack of airflow, these have not been lasting long.

With a new job comes new standards and you learn and develop new ideas from the good and bad you see that others have done.

In the world of naming conventions I have developed a standard that appears to work no matter where you apply it when it comes to naming network devices (meaning not including workstations, printers, etc).  Keeping in mind that some devices have limitations in the name so we keep our standards to the lowest set characters which is 15.

What is a Virus?
A virus is a man made program or piece of code that causes an unexpected, usually negative, event. Viruses are often disguised games or images with clever marketing titles such as "Me, nude."

What is a Worm?
Computer Worms are viruses that reside in the active memory of a computer and duplicate themselves. They may send copies of themselves to other computers, such as through email or Internet Relay Chat (IRC).

Community Builder by Joomlapolis has been the staple for the Joomla websites when you wanted the users more integrated and communicative.  Some excellent features in Community Builder has made its mark in the Joomla community.

Until recently Community Builder was strictly for the older version of Joomla (1.0.x) which was free open source, donationware application.  Now they do have Community Builder for Joomla 1.5.x but its no longer free.  You must now give Joomlapolis some of your money this time around.

I had a user who complained about how slow there macbook pro was.  My first suggestion was to upgrade the 512Mb of Memory.  Especially seeing how an upgrade to 2GB from Crucial.com is only $32

Next I tried to apply any Apple updates to there Tiger installation and one of the Apple security patches would only get to about 57% and fail.  I ran the Disk Utility and did a repair on the system and nothing seem to fix it so its time for an upgrade to Leopard.
